I'm excited to take you on a trip down memory lane and share my personal journey of falling in love with sneakers. Ther’s always two things I notice first about a person: Their haircut and their sneakers.

Navigating a $50 Budget

Imagine my brother and me, armed with our prized $50 budgets, embarking on the quest of shoe shopping. Back then, this modest allowance fueled my fascination for iconic sneakers like the Nike Cortez's and Reebok Classics. These simple yet versatile choices sparked a deep-seated adoration for sneakers that would eventually shape my journey.

The Turning Point with Jordan 15s

During my sophomore year of high school, I took the plunge and invested in a pair of white Carolina-themed Jordan 15s. Little did I know that this seemingly small decision would ignite a flame within me for the world of sneakers. Gary was the guy who sold me the pair and after that, I was hooked.

Gary, The Shoe Plug

Enter Gary, the sales guy who was always stationed at the store in the mall. We struck up conversations, even when I didn't plan on making a purchase. Gary's updates on the latest sneaker releases and trends were pure gold. With every visit, I gained not just knowledge but a friend who would play a pivotal role in shaping my sneaker journey.

Cultivating My Shoe Plug

Fast forward a bit more – I started working at the mall and the ritual of buying a pair of shoes with each paycheck began. My collection grew, and my passion for sneakers soared. Enter Shoe Palace, owned by a close childhood friend's family. Working there was the pivotal moment that solidified my devotion to sneakers. Shout out to Shoe Palace for recently celebrating their 30th anniversary – a testament to the power of hard work and dedication.

Part of the Team and the 30th Anniversary Campaign

I joined the Shoe Palace family, a team driven by shared enthusiasm for sneakers. Recently, we celebrated Shoe Palace's 30th anniversary in collaboration with Adidas and the San Jose Flea Market – where it all started. It's a true honor to be a part of a family-owned business that exemplifies hard work and passion. It was so great to be a small part of their campaign. Link to the anniversay sneakers is here and here.

Sneaker Talks at the Shop

So, why am I passionate about sneakers? It's not just about the shoes – it's about the stories, the memories, and the connections. If you drop by the shop, you'll find me ready and eager to chat about anything sneaker-related. Over time, I've formed incredible friendships through our shared love for sneakers.

My sneaker journey is more than just a collection of shoes – it's a journey of relationships, memories, and a deep-rooted passion. Sneakers have a magical way of bringing people together, and I'm proud to be a part of this ever-growing community.

See you at the shop, where the sneaker talk never stops! -Red

Cultivating a Peaceful and Calm Workspace

Red the Barber here, and today, we're diving into a topic that's close to my heart—creating a peaceful and calm workspace. Now, I know most of you aren't barbers, but trust me, these tips apply to any office space, home office, or workspace you call your own. Let's get started!

Red the Barber here, and today, we're diving into a topic that's close to my heart—creating a peaceful and calm workspace. Now, I know most of you aren't barbers, but trust me, these tips apply to any office space, home office, or workspace you call your own. Let's get started!

Clean and Organized:

A tidy space equals a tidy mind. Keeping your work area clean and organized not only helps you find things easily but also reduces stress. Clutter can be overwhelming, so take some time to declutter and organize your space. You'll be amazed at how much more focused and at ease you'll feel.

Surround Yourself with Beauty:

Personalizing your workspace can work wonders in creating a calming and inspiring atmosphere. Adding pictures of loved ones, meaningful gifts, and a touch of greenery with some plants brings positivity and reminds you of what truly matters, transforming your workspace into a sanctuary of comfort and calmness. In my own workspace, I've curated a collection of items that hold special meaning to me. My gold Lucky Cat or Maneki Neko, a gift from my friend and neighbor Taki, brings good luck and good fortune. Giants gear adorns my station, as I'm always ready to talk football with clients. And let's not forget the pictures of my two incredible sons, Hulk and Hotrod, who hold a special place in my heart. These personal touches serve as daily reminders of the beauty and joy in my life, making my workspace an even more special place to work and connect with others.

Embrace the Light:

The impact of good lighting on mood and productivity cannot be underestimated. Natural light, in particular, has been proven to lift moods and enhance focus, making it the ideal choice if available. When natural light isn't an option, opt for warm and soft lighting that creates a soothing ambiance. Believe me, the right lighting can truly transform your workspace. As for my own setup, I'm fortunate to have a spot right by the window, allowing ample natural light to flood in. I've incorporated a ring light that works wonders during my haircuts, ensuring I have the perfect lighting for my cuts.

Did you know that exposure to natural light has been linked to improved mood, increased vitamin D production, and even better sleep?

Keep It Personal:

Make your workspace unique. Add items that inspire you or bring joy to your heart. Whether it's a motivational quote, an artwork, or a souvenir from a trip, personal touches create a sense of comfort and make your workspace truly yours. My guy Berto @itsbertogarcia gifted me an American traditional straight razor drawing that is hanging on my station. A few weeks later, he blessed me and tattooed it on my foot. Check Berto out, he is a few blocks away from the shop at State of Grace.

Remember, your workspace is where you spend a significant part of your day. Creating a calm environment can do wonders for your productivity, focus, and overall well-being. So, take some time to implement these tips and turn your workspace into a calming oasis. You deserve it!

Stay relaxed and focused
